AMHERST, Mass., Nov. 9, 2007 - Michael W. Deehan has joined the New England News Forum as deputy online editor. Hiring of Deehan, who is based in the Boston area, signals the next phase of development of the year-old citizen-media community.
The New England News Forum's incubating year is assessed in an article in the summer edition of CommonWealth, the magazine publication of the non-profit Massachusetts Institute for a New Commonwealth. Writer Dan Kennedy, who teaches journalism at Northeastern University, describes NENF as a work in progress. Kennedy also comments on media on WGBH-TV's "Beat the Press" and on his own blog, MediaNation. The MediaChannel.org website also picked up Kennedy's story.
